On the outskirts of Oxford, England is a beautiful piece of public lands called "The Port Meadow." Bordered to the west by the River Thames, The Port Meadow’s 300 acres is a popular location for locals to enjoy the natural environment, where runners, bikers, and rowers on the river share space with grazing cattle and roaming horses.
During a particularly hectic season of life in Oxford, our favorite memories are of family walks through The Port Meadow from our home at 4 Observatory Street to the famed Trout Inn on Godstow Road where C.S. Lewis is rumored to have written "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe." That 2 ½ mile walk along the river, past the boat locks and the ruins of the 12th century Godstow Abbey, was an idyllic respite from the busyness of life. It was a chance to reconnect with each other, to be renewed in a way that only time in nature can do, and to build life-long memories.
Our hope is that Godstow House represents for you what the walk from Oxford to Godstow means to us - a place to be renewed, to be inspired, and to reconnect with people you love.
